MY 'CALIOCA' LIFE...

My diverse and creative approach to film and photography stems from my own perspective on life. Born in San Diego, California with adventurous parents, I grew up on boats sailing down the coast of Baja, hang-gliding with my father at the age of 5 and scuba-diving clear Caribbean waters by 12. At the age of 8 I came to a crossroad in my life and had to decide between staying with my father in California or moving to Brazil for a couple of years with my mother and become a 'Carioca' (a girl from Rio de Janeiro). What was an adventurous and curious young girl to do? The answer was clear and I packed my bags. Without any friends or speaking a word of Portuguese, I was forced to make sense of my new world through the art of observation. Everything was different, new and beautiful to me and hardly did I know that my observant eye would lead me to fall in love with the camera later down the line. I stole my mother's analogue camera 8 years later at the age of 16 and began shooting and developing black and white 35mm photography. Finding such enthusiasm in capturing the endless angles and perspectives of the many worlds around me, I decided to follow my passion with an AA in Film Production and a BA in Film and Media Studies from UCSB. Since graduating in 2011, I have worked and lived between Santa Barbara, California and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as a videographer, producer and editor. I have acquired several years of experience in video production; producing high production value content, including music videos, documentary films, lifestyle photography, corporate and product videos. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of fields and industries picking up new talents and skills every step of the way! On my days off, my still and digital cameras lead my salty soul to the beach or on a plane to a remote spot on the planet in search of inspiration and more stories to add to my growing portfolio of outdoor lifestyle content and sports media.
